Thought you would enjoy seeing pictures of Bean. I changed his name to Bries. He is a wonderful dog, I sure have enjoyed him. I take him for walks, have taught him to sit and stay. I hope to teach him some more tricks. He has made himself at home. He follows me everywhere, he is my constant companion. He already weighs 12 lbs., the vet thinks he will level out at 13 lbs. I am so glad I found him, he is the best dog. Thanks for letting me adopt him.
Update on Lucky (formerly Duke) -
We love him to pieces! He is adjusting just fine. We are taking things slow. He's getting out for walks around other dogs, kids, adults and crowds. We play and he runs all around and is quite feisty. Then he chills out during the day and evening. He sleeps with me and has really got use to that part for sure!
He is even getting use to my little grandchildren! He doesn't play with them but at least comes closer now and tries to join in on the rolling around with us on the floor. They respect him very well.
With a little love, patience and understanding...he is a wonderful new member of our family and he makes us so happy and very proud when he catches on with his training. We just WUV HIM! and vise versa. He follows me around like a little puppy. LOL He really does. We have allowed him to be with us at every moment for the first 10 days to help him adjust to his new owner and enviornment. We are now slowly working on the separation end of training since he has quite a separation anxiety thing going on with me.
His name is no longer Duke. It's Lucky! We sure are lucky to have found each other.
With love and thanks, Carolyn, Melanie and Lucky
Update on on Sami (formerly Arwen) -
It's hard to believe that this sweet girl was abandoned and gave birth to NINE puppies! She is doing so good at our house...her forever home. She and Sasha are now "sisters" and do everything together. They even bark together when they don't even know what they are barking about. :)
In less than two weeks, Sami is fully potty trained, uses the doggy door, trained on the Invisible Fence and knows how to "sit" on command. We are impressed! Such a smart girl. Everyone she meets LOVES her immediately.
Our family is so appreciative to this organization. We are so blessed to have her in our family!
Update on Wednesday -
Hello! Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm! Here are the most recent pictures of Wednesday, the Boston Terrier I adopted last summer. Has it been that long???
She loves the snow and playing with her big sister, Lucy. The picture with the pink polka dot comforter is in my bed. We were watching movies in the adjustable bed. This is usually where Wednesday ends up, on top of Lucy at the fold of the bed. She still is very excitable and hyper. She recent got out the front door and just kept running. Luckily, she came to me when I finally caught up with her. Just wanted to send you an update....
Take Care!
Update on Max - formerly Nash -
Hi, just thought I'd send you an update on the puppy we adopted through you on 11/23/08. Max is 30 lbs now, has had all his shots and is on monthly heartworm. I think he looks like Scooby Doo! He is very smart, he was housebroken in a week! Max can sit, stay, shake, fetch, lay down - but still doesn't want to come when he's called - especially if he's romping in the snow - we are working hard on this.
So that he can get enough exercise, the kids have taught him to fetch up and down the stairs - when the weather gets better we will get out more!
Our precious Lady (11 year old collie) passed away on December 16th. Max missed her badly, but he comforted me continually and sat in my lap until he was just too big.
We just wanted you to know that we love him, and are thankful that you all rescued this fine boy! My grandchildren (who live with me) love him so much!
Update on Lulu - formerly Zena -
I just wanted to touch base and tell you about “Lulu” formerly Zena. She is a wonderful addition to our family. She has certainly brought much needed joy to us. Christmas is one of the most difficult times for us, as we really feel the loss of our precious Missy. I know that she helped direct me in finding Lulu. Lulu loves going in Missy’s room and looking around, she never bothers anything, she just looks and sniffs. Missy would certainly love Lulu.
Lulu is brilliant, loving, the cutest and sweetest dog ever! She has gone to school with me several days. She stays in my office and sleeps for the most part. My mom loves caring for her while I am at school. Attached are some photos of her Christmas morning. She got more gifts than anyone! Just a bit spoiled.
I can’t thank you enough for our little bundle of love you have given us. She has brought some much needed comfort and joy to me and my family.
Update from Dozer's Family (formerly Auggie) -
Hello, I just wanted to send you a quick update on Dozer, since today is his Birthday(estimated birthdate:) and we will be celebrating with a bone party this evening. We are happy to pass along to you that Dozer has surpassed 100 pounds, and is a very healthy, happy boy. Last night I spent an hour outside playing in the snow with him.... which he does with true Pyrenees enthusiasm! His snow puppy angels are plenty, and lately I've had to go outside at 10:00 and drag him in because he wants to stay outside and bury himself in the snow after going out to potty before bed. He spends most nights in our bed (especially if my husband is away at the fire department), and the others he spends on his cozy bed right beside me. Dozer especially loves spending time with his brother Whiskey, who is a border collie mix that we planned to only foster and ended up making our own. It ensures that they both get plenty of running, and I'm actually impressed: Dozer is very fast for a Pyr. I attribute it to his high-energy brother. Yes, he is a far cry from the unwanted, forgotten, passive fur-ball that he was a short year ago. We're so blessed and happy to have him!
Update on Cayley -
Hello Friends,
Just wanted to write with an update & send some pictures of Cayley the pug in her new home. She is absolutely the most loving dog we've ever owned. She spent one night in her crate & from that point on has slept in our bed with our other two pugs.
I can understand why her former owner may have had some issues with her potty training. She does very well when you keep her on a schedule but continues to have accidents if you don't pay great attention. We have decided that it doesn't matter if she is ever potty trained. There isn't much you can't fix with a steam cleaner and a little vinegar. We accept her for who & what she is knowing that cleaning a few accidents is a small trade off for the love and companionship she give us everyday.
Overall she is doing exceptionally well considering all that she's been through. She has helped heal the huge hole in my heart from losing our dog Emma. Thank you all again for the wonderful gift you've given us & for all that you do for other homeless pets. Happy New Year.
Update on Andrew (formally Piran) -
I want to thank you again for the wonderful work you do for dogs and for allowing us to adopt Andrew. It has been just a little over a month and Andrew has grown so much! He is an absolute joy to be around, and in fact, he has charmed everyone over the holidays (Andrew's first white Christmas) when we took him home to see families. Besides being 'cute as can be' (quoting Andrew's Dr. Christy), Andrew has fantastic personalities - sometimes sweet little angel, sometimes dare-devil, Olympic athlete-to-be, and sometimes talking (not barking) our ears off - all in all, Andrew is our little sunshine and we just love him so much!!
Here is a picture of him the week we brought him home and a couple from last week - he has more than doubled his weight in one month! Will send more pictures as he grows. Thanks again!
Andrew's mom and dad
Update on Merple Mae and Homer Dale -
Merple Mae (left) is doing much better. She gets along with everyone and I think she feels like this is home. She is still a bit skittish, but seems to be coming around. She even got on the couch with my husband today.
Homer Dale (right) is great and is becoming very spoiled. He is quite the favorite of everyone who visits. Happy Holidays!
Update from Suki's Family -
I thought I should give you an update on Suki. She continues to move forward, only taking backward steps occasionally now. I take her with me as much as possible to help socialize her with humans. She quivers some, but will stop after a short time so that part is improving. I took her with me to my family for the Thanksgiving holiday and she was forced to rely on me for safety (lots of people and all of them wanted to love on her). She did great and actually relaxed and seemed to enjoy the activity around her. She even was able to potty while on a leash, which she had never done before. She and Sasha are a bonded pair, as you can see from some of the photos. Suki looks to Sasha for direction and comfort.......too cute. Most of the time I find them sharing the same dog bed, as you can see. And they both share chair time with Larry........so much for Suki being my dog.
I still leave a leash on her as she won't always come to me, but she is doing much better in that department as well. All in all, she has far exceeded our expectations and is an absolute joy to have around. We love her more each day and are so very glad we adopted her. Thank you again for all your hard work and for allowing us to adopt her. "The girls" are the light of our lives and we don't know what we'd do without them.
Update from Rhea's new mom -
I wanted to thank you again for choosing me to be Rhea's new mom. She is absolutely amazing! She's starting to get used to her new home and she has definitely claimed me as her person! The feeling is absolutely amazing! She is doing well with the crate and her house training is coming along as well.
Attached are some pictures of her in her new home :) And yes, she's already spoiled!
Update from Bella's (formerly Pepsi) new Mom -
I just wanted to pass along an updated on Pepsi (now Bella). We just reached our 1 month since her adoption. She is wonderful!!! The sweetest puppy I've ever known and just adored by everyone who meets her. She's such a lover! Loves snuggling up with people and giving kisses! Everyone who meets her cannot help but be laughing within seconds because of how sweet she is. She turns 4 months this weekend and is up to 6.5 pounds, but is still the smallest, cutest thing!!! Housebreaking seems to be basically done. She sits at the front door and waits for me to notice her when she wants to go out! Things are great and I just wanted to thank you for letting me adopt her. It is the best feeling to come home and see her adorable face waiting for me!!! I've attached a picture of her for you to see how big she's gotten. Thanks again so much!
Email from Theo's new family -
Hey guys, This is Maura with a Theo update. I just wanted to let you all know that he is doing great :) He is excelling in puppy classes. He is a very smart little man. He also has been swimming at a salt water pool at the same place he takes puppy classes and is an amazing athlete. He can swim the whole length of the pool! He also loves the dog park, long walks, and playing with his ball for hours. He has been an absolute blessing in my life and is great company and a perfect playmate. Thank you guys so much for helping me find him! I've attached some pictures. My parents are also looking to adopt soon and I've directed them to your website. Hopefully another match will be made :)
Thanks so much!
Update from Ginger's (now Zoe) new dad -
Ginger (now named Zoe) is doing well. We've had a few accidents as she's gotten used to the new surroundings and I've gotten used to her signals. She and Kaylee have started to get used to each other and enjoy playing when Kaylee gets in the mood. When she has been with me to visit my family she also has gotten along well with their dog Peaches. She's been to the vet and the doctor was very pleased with her.
Email from Gizmo's new family -
Melody, Gizmo is the best pet ever! Just wanted to share pictures with you. Thanks for giving us Gizmo.
Email from Simon's family -
Hi,
I wanted to say Thanks again for letting us adopt Simon (formerly Sidewinder). We just passed our month anniversary of having Simon in our family and it has truly been a blessing. He is such a great little puppy. I have attached a couple of pictures of him, he has gained 4 lbs since we have had him. He has finished all his puppy shots and has been to the groomer as well. He's already looking a little shaggy again. I like the shaggy look but my husband really liked the fresh groomed look.
We hope to see you at the reunion in October. Have a great day!
Email from Lilly's new family -
Sorry it has been a while since I have taken the time to update you on Lilly. We had a case of kennel cough, the vet said it was the stress of her having so many changes in her life so quickly, but 10 days of soft food with meds hiding in it fixed her right up. She and Rascal have become great friends, she chases him all over the living room and the family room and sometimes he chases her. They will be lying in the chair with me and all of a sudden they jump off the chair in a dead run around the room. She loves her puppy cookies and is trying to dance for them she still can not set, but we start K9Kollege in 3 weeks. She has gained 2 pounds and still does not know about people food. She knows to potty out side now, although we are not accident free yet. She thinks I have nothing to do but sit and hold her all day, but she knows when I do have time to hold her she has to share with Rascal. She is setting on my lap right now, hiding her face thinking I cannot see her there. She is the love of my life, and my gift from God. I love her so much and I know she loves me. She loves to run and hide when I call her. I think she thinks "Lilly come" means run as fast you can and hide behind the couch. Tonight David and I were to meet friends a 5:30 for dinner, he was late so I called him, he was on the way, he said it took him 15 minutes to catch Lilly. She loves that game. She still will not do the steps. But maybe school will help us with this.
Email from Wednesdays new family -
Good Morning!
All of the pictures are of Lucy, Wednesday, and my nephew Karl. Yes, Karl and my parents love her!
She HAD to ride with Karl to PetSmart and then showed us her jumping skills by jumping out of the top basket of the shopping cart to the floor. When she hit the floor, she kept running so we knew she was ok. Everyone in the store thought she was so cute!
She is eating well because I put the gates up so Lucy can't eat her food. She is sleeping well and even snuggling with Lucy. Lucy plays with the toys I got Wednesday and Wednesday plays with the overly large toys that I got Lucy.
No, you can't have her back!!!
Thanks again!
Email update from Lucie's family-
Sweet Pumpkin's name was quickly changed to Lucie. As the foster mom stated, she is smart and learned her new name quickly. We have just celebrated her ONE year adoption date. The whole family adores her and feel very lucky that we found her. She loves people and wants to be by us most of the day. She shares a bed with my daughter at night and has been reported to snore. ;) I only crated her for the first week. She proved herself to be worthy of the run of the house at night and while I'm at work. Lucie enjoys her several short walks each day and knows where the boy dogs live. She is a very good communicator when it comes to asking to go outside and has never had an accident in the house. At her first vet check she was diagnosed with a heart murmur. She has been on a blood thinner ever since and it seems to be keeping her coughing at bay. She does seem susceptible to kennel cough. Two of the three times we had to board her, she developed a cough in the next week. Luckily a friend from church loves to have Lucie visit and we are usually able to take Lucie there for a weekend stay.
Update from Sammy's (formerly TomTom) family -
Here's Sammy's first haircut. He's getting ready for his 3rd. His hair grows quickly! He's growing a mustache now. I just love him so much!!! He's the BEST little boy! Thanks for all you do for all these dogs/puppies!
Update from Chico's family -
Hi there! I know it's taken me a while but I wanted to let you know that Chico is doing GREAT with us and our 3 other Bostons! He is such a sweetie & demands our attention over the other dogs at all times :) He has a funny quirk - he loves to 'suck' on pillows (yes, I said suck!) He doesn't really chew on them...it's hard to describe; you'd have to see it. He cracks us up everyday & we couldn't love him more. Thank you all for everything you do to find good homes for these wonderful babies!
Here is Chico, with one of his pillows. Thanks again for everything!
Stay tuned for more updates and happy tails! If you have a story you'd like to contribute, please email us. Happy tails are the reason we do what we do!
